Best Practice ParcelAd Tracking

4/3/2022

We recommend to all of our clients to always have every flyer interaction tracked, which really is best-practice and almost a must-have in order to be able to analyse data of AB tests. These are the best practices we recommend:
  1. QR Codes have long reach mass market consumer acceptance and best practice is to URL-encode UTM tags e.g. for Google Analytics at the end of a landingpage URL.
  2. Tiny URLs: In case you want to print a URL, consider a short URL that is easy to enter on a mobile phone, since 60-80% of traffic is mobile these days. We recommend www.bitly.com and then change to a nicely readable short URL
  3. Coupon Codes: Classic way to track conversions. Link your coupon code to a valuable AUD value rather than a percentage off e.g. with a minimum spend, which has proven more successful and make the flyer look similar to a dollar note in terms of sizings.
  4. Text messaging or calls through a tracked phone number. Happy to assist with the setup.
  5. Dedicated Landingpages: Have dedicated landingpages for each campaign, channel and source, so that you can track the direct traffic from them... it is ok to make them short e.g. /ak /12 /go /new /signup...

"The difficulty lies, not in the new ideas, but in escaping from the old ones, which ramify, for those brought up as most of us have been, into every corner of our minds."
John Maynard Keynes (1883 - 1946), preface to The General Theory of Employment, Interest and Money.
