FAQs for Advertisers
What is ParcelPush?
ParcelPush is a division of MarketingPush Pty Ltd. We are Australia’s Insert Marketing and Flyer Distribution Specialist revolutionising flyer and sample distribution through targeted insertions into e-commerce shipments locally, nationally and across New Zealand. We are based in Sydney, Australia with offices in Bondi Junction.
How does it work?
ParcelPush has built up a network of trusted retail partners that deliver thousands of parcels to Australia’s online shoppers every day. Our retail partners have agreed to place up to 6 inserts into each box they ship. As an advertiser you can start your campaign configuration without any obligations here...
Why is Insert Marketing more effective than traditional distribution methods?
Shopping makes everybody happy and you reach out to online shoppers within their homes. Parcel inserts reach the consumer in a positive moment, when he or she opens up the eagerly awaited shipment. The excitement in that moment is comparable with Christmas / Birthdays and makes online shopping so special. The consumer perceives the inserts as additional value, especially if the flyer represents a discount or voucher code or something exclusive that is relevant to the product her or she has purchased. The likelihood that the consumer will soon go online again, e.g. to leave a seller feedback on eBay or to confirm the receipt is high and therefore the likelihood also increases for the vouchers to be used rather than being thrown away, which often happens to other forms of direct mailings or street promotion materials.
How do you ensure that the flyers are really distributed?
All retail partners have signed contracts and are trusted partners, which get visited regularly. In addition ParcelPush performs test purchases from time to time plus consults the advertiser to use special conversion rate measurements such as voucher codes or special landing pages which track and show the success of ParcelPush’s targeted distribution, generally higher than traditional direct marketing campaigns.
How do you measure the conversion rate?
During the consulting and ramp-up stage we ensure that you have embedded proven methods to track the success such as promotional codes, tracked phone numbers or landingpages. We than ask you to send us weekly feedback about the conversions which we compare with the insert volumes that got pushed out through parcel deliveries. Example: A distribution partner has reported back that he delivered 1,000 flyers during the last week and you as an advertiser reported 15 voucher code redemptions during the same week, which is a 1.5% conversion rate.
What kind of targeting does ParcelPush offer?
Since ParcelPush only works with online retailers all inserts are always targeted towards online shoppers, which qualify in general through being:
Traditional flyer distribution through letterbox mailings or street promotions does not target online shoppers only, which gives ParcelPush an advantage especially if the inserts promote online offerings as well.
Additionally ParcelPush offers Premium targeting, which breaks down the distribution by product category, product type, sport, hobby, gender or even postcode if capacity is available within the ParcelPush distribution network. Start configuring your campaign now.
Where did we get the idea for ParcelPush?
Bjorn Behrendt, one of the co-founders of StyleTread, often got approached by other online retailers to insert their flyers into the StyleTread shoe deliveries plus a good friend of him had successfully grown a similar business model in Germany, France and the UK.
The original idea comes from Amazon though pushing hundreds of thousands of flyers out each day targeted by product and category attributes. Australia was missing a reliable service to connect classical direct marketing with the ecommerce world.
How does the 360 degree process work for advertisers?
First ParcelPush discusses the marketing strategy and goals with you, e.g. brand messaging, product specifications, target groups, multi-media mix, supporting campaigns, etc… then ParcelPush suggests different ways of tracking the inserts, which get embedded into the design. ParcelPush can also suggest different design alternatives designed by our graphic designers, in cases where the advertiser does not have an internal design department or creative agency. The next step is to discuss the time frame and volume of the campaign and whether it is a national or regional campaign. ParcelPush recommends to do a trial of at least 50,000 parcel pushes in order for the team to collect enough data. Once agreed, ParcelPush then initiates the printing and kicks off the push strategy by selecting the right distribution network. Once the flyers are printed they get shipped directly to the warehouse of the distribution partner, whose team starts distributing immediately. ParcelPush collects both advertiser and retailer data on a weekly basis throughout the campaign which allows short-term targeting / conversion rate optimisations. Once the campaign is finished a final report is prepared for the advertiser.
How much does a ParcelPush cost?
The 360 degree pricing includes consulting, design, printing, distribution and analytics and differs by volume - The higher the volume the lower the cost per thousand (CPM). 180 degree prices do not include any consulting, design and printing since the advertiser has done this already. Please fill out this ad configurator and in the end you will receive a link to calculator your campaign based on the most recent price lists.
How quickly can ParcelPush start a campaign?
ParcelPush can initiate the distribution of flyers right away. The setup of a new 360 degree campaign is done within a few working days. Normally the consulting, design and printing takes 3-7 work days before the distribution can start, but largely depends on how quick the advertiser can move.
How many flyers can ParcelPush distribute?
ParcelPush can easily distribute several hundred thousand flyers each month. During busy advertising times, e.g. the weeks before Christmas, Mothers Day or Easter, ParcelPush may run into network limitations. It is therefore recommended to book campaigns for these seasons early.
What other services does ParcelPush offer?
ParcelPush offers each service separately as well, e.g. design, printing, consulting or distribution only. In addition ParcelPush can organise traditional letterbox distribution as well in case a specific suburb or district needs to be targeted (local area mass marketing). Please review our full portfolio of marketing services here.
What is the recommended flyer format and what paper is being used?
ParcelPush recommends DL format, 150 gsm, full colour gloss, double sided. In case more content needs to be placed on the flyer, then A5 or A4 can work as well. Paper used in the printing process is FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) accredited meaning it comes from a sustainable (plantation timber only) source. Recycled paper can be an option at a higher cost depending on the Recycle %
